Privacy Policy

Plain-English information about what we collect, why, and what you can do about it.

This Privacy Policy explains how The Love Bus UK ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, stores and protects your personal data when you visit our website at thelovebus.co.uk or get in touch with us.

We comply with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR). If anything here is unclear, please email us at hello@thelovebus.co.uk.

Who we are

The Love Bus UK is operated by Laurence McMahon, a sole trader based in Cromer, Norfolk. We provide a converted vintage coach for hire as a VIP green room, mobile lounge and pop-up stage at festivals and private events across the UK.

What data we collect

We only collect data you actively give us, or anonymous data needed to keep the website running and improve it.

When you contact us

If you fill in our contact form, email, phone or WhatsApp us, we collect the information you choose to share — typically your name, email address, phone number, the type and approximate date of your event, and any details you include in your message.

When you use the website

If you accept cookies (see below), we use Google Analytics 4 to collect anonymised information about how visitors interact with the site — pages viewed, time on page, approximate location (country/region), device type and browser. Your IP address is anonymised before storage.

If you reject cookies, Google Analytics still receives anonymous, cookieless pings (containing no personal identifiers) so we can see roughly how many people visit. This is allowed under PECR as it does not identify you.

Why we collect it (lawful basis)

  • Enquiries & bookings — to reply to you and, if you book us, to fulfil our contract with you. Lawful basis: contract and legitimate interest.
  • Website analytics — to understand how visitors use the site so we can make it better. Lawful basis: consent (you actively click Accept).
  • Security & site operation — basic technical cookies and server logs needed to keep the site running and secure. Lawful basis: legitimate interest.

Cookies & tracking

When you first visit, you'll see a banner asking you to Accept or Reject cookies. Here's what each choice does:

If you Accept

Google Analytics 4 (GA4) cookies are set in your browser (`_ga`, `_ga_*`). These let us see things like which pages are most popular and how long visitors stay. Your IP is anonymised. No advertising cookies are used — we don't run ads. Your choice is remembered for 12 months.

If you Reject

No Google Analytics cookies are placed. Anonymous, cookieless pings still flow so we get a basic visitor count, but nothing identifies you. Your choice is remembered for 24 hours, after which the banner will reappear (in case you clicked the wrong button by mistake).

One small cookie either way

We set a single first-party cookie called lovebus_consent to remember your choice. This is essential to honour your preference and does not require consent under PECR.

You can change your mind at any time using the link in our footer.

Who we share data with

We don't sell your data. Ever. We share it only with the small set of trusted services we use to run the site and respond to you:

  • Formspree — receives contact-form submissions and forwards them to our email. Formspree privacy policy.
  • Google Analytics 4 — anonymised website usage data (only if you accept cookies). Google privacy policy.
  • Our hosting provider — server logs containing IP addresses are retained briefly for security and abuse prevention.

Some of these services may transfer data outside the UK. They operate under appropriate safeguards (Standard Contractual Clauses, UK-US Data Bridge or equivalent) as required by UK GDPR.

How long we keep it

  • Enquiries — kept for up to 2 years from last contact, then deleted unless we're actively working with you.
  • Booking records — kept for 6 years to meet HMRC tax-record requirements.
  • Analytics data — retained by Google for up to 14 months, then automatically deleted.
  • Server logs — typically kept for 30 days then rotated out.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to:

  • Ask what data we hold about you (right of access)
  • Have inaccurate data corrected (right to rectification)
  • Ask us to delete your data (right to erasure)
  • Object to or restrict our processing
  • Withdraw consent at any time (where consent is the lawful basis)
  • Lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk)

To exercise any of these rights, email hello@thelovebus.co.uk. We'll respond within one month.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top will reflect any change. Material changes will be flagged on the homepage.
